My Story
Amy Ma is a pioneer in nature-based education, a wilderness rites of passage guide, and a devoted village builder whose life’s work centers on remembering what it means to live in deep relationship with the earth and one another.
As the founder of SOL Gratitude Village, and multiple mentorship and retreat programs, Amy has spent over two decades guiding children, families, educators, and leaders through transformational pathways rooted in nature, ceremony, and community. Her background as a Montessori educator and school leader informs her holistic approach to human development—honoring each stage of life as a sacred unfolding.

Amy’s work is an integration of diverse lineages and frameworks, including the 8 Shields mentoring model, the soul-initiation teachings of Bill Plotkin and grief tending inspired by Malidoma Some and Francis Weller. She also draws from indigenous wisdom traditions, Taoist philosophy, and earth-based ritual practices to create immersive, initiatory experiences.

Her offerings include wilderness rites of passage for youth and adults, leadership mentorship for educators and wellness practitioners, grief rituals, seasonal retreats, and community gatherings designed to restore a sense of belonging and purpose. Whether guiding a solo vigil in the wilderness or holding council in circle, Amy is known for her ability to create powerful, grounded, and heart-centered spaces for transformation.

At the heart of her work is a simple yet profound vision: to restore village, to awaken the human soul, and to support a new generation of leaders who are deeply connected to the earth, their purpose, and each other.
